Visting Italy & Castrofillippo- Sicily!

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend?

It was a busy this weekend. Finishing up the last of the shopping and wrapping.  Was going through some old photos for a gift to my father-in-law and though it has been way too long that these images have been in storage.  I thought I would share a few with you all.

It was from our trip to Italy in 2006.  We (my Hubby & me) we were lucky to spend one amazing week in Sicily with his family, all 700 of them…lol, no but really it felt like it.   It was so beautiful so rustic and not over run with the tourist trade.  In the little town of Castrofillippo, Sicily -  there are about 3000 or so residence and everybody knows each other.  Well to be honest they might all be related somewhere down the line.  No one spoke english, except for a handful.  It was bliss to be around houses and buildings that have been there for over 500 years, and still lived in!!!!!

BTW, should you fall in love with any of these images prints are available.

So here are a few from “La bela Sicilia”

From Sicily we travel through Italy… Rome, Florence, Verona & Venice which by far was my favourite.  There is something about being in a place that is that rich in history & has a limited time left.  I always knew that in Venice there were no streets, that the people there travel through their city by water, but when you get there it actually hits you… there are NO streets… none!  You walk every where with steps and pathways that wind through the city like a maze.  There are some areas where the buildings are so close together that two people cannot walk side by side.  It was my favorite!!!!!  I only wish it had not been raining the way it was and was as cold.  I wasn’t expecting that!  I ended up making the images from the drab day that it was, to reflect how I saw the city… vibrant and eclectic!

Here are a few of my shots from the tour.  Please click on them if you wish to see them bigger

I figure it might be best to stop uploading this may shots, I did shoot close to 2700 images and well it is always fun for me to go through them and relive that wonderful trip.
It was such a great experience.  I very much look forward to returning some day very soon.  I most definitely recommend it to anyone who like history & crowds… lol :)
